This large Swinburne University of Technology site was developed over three months in consultation with each of the staff in the department. It adheres to the university design style guides while providing a fresh and modern look consistent with the department's entrepreneurial emphasis.

Technical highlights:

• The site utilises frames to provide quick and simple access to a large and complex site.
• The front page has a scrolling ticker-tape style news feature to highlight the most recent activities at the school.
• We trained a staff member to make changes to the site, allowing for speedy updates.

Launched in March 2001 by a consortium of Doctoral students in Business Administration, this large site was in constant development during the 4 years of company development. It remained the only online database of business research working papers and used a membership system to provide subscribers with a sophisticated database of research papers categorised on a front page customised to suit their specific research interests.

Technical highlights:

• My-SQL and PHP4 to provide a fast search engine and a personalised and interactive experience for users.
• The design was kept deliberately simple to speed up the site - the users want research information rather than fancy graphics.
• Every research paper abstract listed on the site can also be viewed in a printer-friendly format (without coloured backgrounds).
• The staff of GRB are able to add research papers to the database through a password protected administration area.
• Members can be added and removed by staff and automated emails to members manage many of the routine functions of the site.

This small site promotes the services of a national school placement consultancy. The site is easy to navigate and fast to load.

• A duotone colour effect throughout the site gives it a professional appearance and integrates with the company's business card design.

This small site promotes a coaching service specialising in marketing. The site is easy to navigate, fast to load and linked with both payment and provider sites.

• Uses javascript rollovers on the navigation buttons to highlight them.
• Links into a third party payment system.

An extensive site for this independent Anglican girls school is primarily designed to market the school to prospective students and their families, whilst at the same time providing information for existing staff, parents and students. The site was developed in consultation with a number of technical and academic staff members.

Technical highlights:

• The site opens with a Flash animation, providing a vibrant and modern look to the site.
• The site utilises a jump menu so that any page can be accessed from any other.
• Another navigation feature is the javascript drop down menus attached to each section button on each page, again allowing for access to every page from every page.
• The images along the top of each page are animated GIFs, constantly changing to highlight various aspects of school life.
• We instucted staff on how to make updates to the site and provided a template file so new pages could be added to the site whist preserving the design.
