Adjunct Professor to the Australian Graduate School of Entrepreneurship where he has coordinated the Research program for the Doctorate of Business Administration, Dr Béchervaise is Principal of NB Consulting [Australasia] Pty Ltd and former Managing Director of Global Research Business Pty Ltd.

Dr Béchervaise specialises in executive mentoring, senior training preparation and website development.

Consultancy

As Learning Design Consultant with Wellington Institute of Technology in 2005, Dr Béchervaise undertook a leadership role within the e-learning section where he was involved in Project Management for the new National Diploma of Building Surveying, strategic development and marketing of $1m Tertiary Education Commission programme in generic pre-trade training - GeTTS and the preparation of strategic planning papers for senior management, including re-structure advice. Subsequently, he developed Certificate and Diploma courses in Trauma Management for the School of Health involving industry liaison and programme writing

Dr Béchervaise is Principal of NB Consulting (Australasia), a $5m+ operation involving international change management, business restructure and marketing consultancy, on-line industry and workplace training programmes and residential real estate and resources investment.

Currently based in New Zealand, he is Overseas Marketing Manager for Veridon P/L providing IT solutions for e-commerce implementation and the former Managing Director of Global Research Business Pty Ltd providing global research access for postgraduate business researchers. Founder and former Managing Director of Australian Education Resourcing Centre, Dr Béchervaise has established placement opportunities for overseas business students and managed family relocations and school placement.

Bank of Cyprus (Australia) - working with the foundation senior management team to develop their successful Australian Banking Licence application and establish leadership principles and vision for the organisation.

Taltarni Wineries - needs analysis, senior management training, strategic planning development and organisational restructure, advice on business plan development;

Collord Construction and Vicast Industries - Strategic online cost estimation programme for international and national building construction and heritage cast iron reconstruction in India and Singapore

KCG International - set up of Sri Lanka trade investment office, South China Import initiative and international student education programme

Austin Hospital Nursing Research Centre - national biotechnology training programme development

Working with a research team from Deakin University School of Nursing, Dr Béchervaise provided research direction for a study of the preferred learning and working styles of graduate nurses entering nursing research in a multicultural context. This project has provided the theoretical basis for development of culturally sensitive online education and training materials for the Nursing School and suggested a major realignment of pedagogical practice in the field.

Academic background

Dr Béchervaise was appointed Adjunct Professor in the Australian Graduate School of Entrepreneurshipat Swinburne University of Technology in 2002, a position he still holds. He was formerly Director of Doctoral Research lecturing in Organisational Management and Research. Until 2001, Dr Béchervaise was Dean of Research at The University of Sydney, a Senior Lecturer in English Education for the Faculty of Education and three times visiting professor at University of British Columbia in Vancouver. From 1989 until 1992, he was a foundation lecturer in post-graduate Education at James Cook University in Townsville.

Dr Béchervaise has established substantial expertise as a strategic change consultant in small to medium-sized enterprises. Through consultancy with companies in Australia, Canada, Sri Lanka, Japan and China, he has developed significant expertise in negotiating and delivering specific services with tight deadlines.

Dr Béchervaise maintains consultancy links with Deakin University, Swinburne University of Technology, the Yooroang Goorang Centre for Indigenous Health, the Australian Funeral Directors Association and the Austin & Repatriation Hospital Nursing Education and Research Centre. He writes for and acts as consultant with major publishers including Harper Collins, Random House and Nelson ITP publishers in the fields of visual literacy, early reading development and adolescent fiction.

With acknowledged expertise in Change Management, Strategic Development and Project Management, Dr Béchervaise is also an internationally recognised authority on Multicultural Learning, Gifted Education and Early Childhood Reading Development. His high profile in each of these fields is evidenced by invitations to present to international conferences in United States, Canada, New Zealand, Singapore, Turkey, India and Australia. He maintains full teaching registration in both Australia and New Zealand.

A prolific author, Dr Béchervaise has published 18 books, including a collection of his own poetry, numerous academic papers and several widely used senior English, Communications and Film textbooks based on his 26 years teaching Math, Sciences, English and Drama in Canada and Australia.

Shakespeare on Celluloid was shortlisted as text of the year by Australian Book Publishers Association in 2000, published in North America as Shakespeare on Screen and re-published in expanded form in Australia as Constructing Shakespeare on Screen in 2003.

Initially trained as an industrial chemist, he has had an extensive career as a poet, drama educator and textbook writer, as a high school teacher, and as a family reading theorist researching multicultural influences in reading development.

From 1996 to 1998, Dr Béchervaise represented the tertiary sector on the Syllabus Advisory Committee for the NSW Board of Studies. Between 1995 and 1999, he acted as a senior HSC examiner in General Studies and Contemporary English for New South Wales. In a consulting capacity, he was, more recently, involved in the development of the HSC English curriculum and assessment program implemented in 2000.
